Story told to me:

James was in the barn striping tobacco with another man and got in anargument. James pulled his gun and shot him. James supposed that he was dead so he left (across the illinois boarder) and was never again heard of.

I told this to a Cassetty cousin who said she heard the same story, only it was Nicholas Cassetty who left. It could have been both James Hunter and Nicholas Cassetty who fought each other and that Nicholas did kill James and go to illinois, since I have a death date for James and also the Cassetty family has not found much evidence for Nicholas.

James married Susan JENKINS, daughter of William JENKINS and Sabrey WITCHER, before 1835 in E.Wartrace Cr., Monroe, KY. (Susan JENKINS was born in 1803 in Of, Smith, TN and died on 15 Dec 1863.)
